Tutorial: export mark data

This tutorial walks you through exporting survey mark data in CSV (Data Tables) and DXF (Drawing Exchange Format) for use in spreadsheets, GIS software, or CAD applications.

Before you start

Exporting as CSV (Data Tables)

CSV export is available for all jurisdictions.

Steps

  1. Tap a mark pin on the map to show the summary card.
  2. Tap the summary card to open the full details panel.
  3. Tap the Export button.
  4. Select Data Tables from the export options.

Select Data Tables export

  1. The CSV file is generated and the iOS share sheet appears.
  2. Choose how to save or send the file:
    • Save to Files — save to your device or iCloud Drive
    • Mail — attach to an email
    • AirDrop — send to a nearby Apple device
    • Other apps — share via any compatible app

Using the CSV file

The CSV file contains mark coordinates, metadata, and jurisdiction-specific fields. You can open it in:

  • Microsoft Excel or Numbers for spreadsheet analysis
  • QGIS — import as a delimited text layer
  • ArcGIS — add as an XY event layer or import as a table

Exporting as DXF

DXF export is available for NSW, VIC, QLD, TAS, ACT, and NT. It is not available for SA.

Steps

  1. Open the details panel for the mark you want to export.
  2. Tap the Export button.
  3. Select DXF from the export options.
  4. The DXF file is generated and the iOS share sheet appears.
  5. Save or send the file as needed.

Using the DXF file

The DXF file can be opened in:

  • AutoCAD and other CAD software
  • QGIS — import as a vector layer
  • ArcGIS — add as a CAD dataset
tip

DXF files include the mark's coordinates in the jurisdiction's native projection. Verify the coordinate reference system when importing into your GIS or CAD software.

Other export formats

In addition to CSV and DXF, Benchmrk offers:

  • Benchmrk Package (ZIP) — a compressed archive with mark data and supporting files
  • Benchmrk Report (PDF) — a formatted report with mark details
  • Government Report (PDF) — jurisdiction-specific official documentation (availability varies)

See Export capabilities for the full availability table by jurisdiction.
