Tutorial: navigate to a mark
This tutorial walks you through starting turn-by-turn navigation from your current location to a selected survey control mark.
Before you start
- Ensure Location Services is enabled for Benchmrk (Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Benchmrk → While Using the App).
- You need an internet connection for route calculation.
- Select the correct jurisdiction and find the mark you want to navigate to.
Steps
1. Find your mark
Use the search bar to find the mark you want to navigate to, or tap a mark pin directly on the map. See Search for a mark if you need help finding a mark.
2. Open the details panel
Tap the summary card at the bottom of the screen to open the full details panel for the mark.
3. Tap Navigate
Tap the Navigate button (directions icon) in the details panel. The navigation screen launches.

4. Follow the route
The navigation screen displays:
- A route from your current location to the mark, drawn on the map
- Turn-by-turn directions with distance to the next manoeuvre
- Estimated travel time and remaining distance
- Voice guidance for upcoming turns

5. Arrive at the mark
When you reach the road-accessible point nearest the mark, the navigation session ends. Use the map view and distance indicator to walk the final distance to the physical mark.
Once you are close to the mark, try the AR view to visually locate it through your camera.
6. End navigation
To end navigation early, tap the X or End button on the navigation screen. You will return to the map view.
Important notes
Navigation routes you along roads and paths. The final approach to the physical mark may require walking off-road. Always exercise caution and be aware of your surroundings.
Benchmrk supports navigation to one mark at a time. To navigate to a different mark, end the current session and start a new one.
