What is Benchmrk for iOS?

Benchmrk is a professional-grade iOS application for discovering, inspecting, navigating to, and exporting survey control mark data across Australia. It is designed for licensed surveyors, civil engineers, GIS professionals, and anyone who works with geodetic control infrastructure.

Benchmrk overview

Who is it for?​

Benchmrk serves spatial professionals who need reliable access to survey control marks in the field and office:

  • Licensed surveyors — connect to control for cadastral, engineering, and geodetic surveys
  • Civil and structural engineers — locate control marks for construction setout and verification
  • GIS professionals — collect, verify, and export spatial data referenced to known control
  • Spatial data analysts — access mark metadata, coordinates, and accuracy information
  • Local government officers — verify mark locations and conditions in the field

Key capabilities​

Search marks​

Find survey control marks by name, mark ID, address, or geographic coordinates. Search results display mark type, status, and distance from your current location.

Get turn-by-turn navigation from your current location to any selected survey mark. Benchmrk uses the Mapbox Navigation SDK to guide you along the road network to the mark's vicinity.

View detailed mark information​

Access comprehensive mark data including:

  • Horizontal coordinates in both GDA2020 and GDA94
  • Vertical data referenced to AHD (Australian Height Datum)
  • Mark type, status, order of accuracy, and positional uncertainty
  • Jurisdiction-specific metadata fields

Export data​

Export mark data in multiple formats to suit your workflow:

  • Benchmrk Package — a ZIP archive containing mark data and supporting files
  • Data Tables — CSV format for spreadsheet and GIS import
  • DXF — Drawing Exchange Format for CAD software
  • Benchmrk Report — a formatted PDF report
  • Government Report — jurisdiction-specific PDF documentation

Augmented reality view​

Use the AR view to see geo-anchored overlays of nearby survey marks through your device camera. This helps you visually locate marks in the field relative to your surroundings.

Share and collaborate​

Share individual marks with colleagues via the iOS share sheet.

Supported jurisdictions​

Benchmrk provides access to survey control mark data from seven Australian jurisdictions:

  • NSW — New South Wales
  • VIC — Victoria
  • QLD — Queensland
  • SA — South Australia
  • TAS — Tasmania
  • NT — Northern Territory
  • ACT — Australian Capital Territory

Western Australia (WA) is not yet supported in Benchmrk. WA data may be added in a future update.

Each jurisdiction's data is sourced directly from the relevant state or territory survey authority. See Jurisdictions for details on data sources and coverage.
