Western Australia (WA) is not yet supported in Benchmrk. WA data may be added in a future update.

Data sourcing

Each jurisdiction's survey control mark data is sourced from the relevant state or territory authority's spatial data services. Benchmrk fetches data on demand — when you search for marks or pan the map to a new area, the app queries the jurisdiction's API in real time.

This means:

  • You always see the latest available data from the authority.
  • An internet connection is required to retrieve mark data.
  • Data availability depends on the jurisdiction's API being online and accessible.

Jurisdiction-specific differences

Each jurisdiction uses slightly different data schemas, mark identifiers, and classification systems. Key differences include:

Marker icons

Each jurisdiction has its own set of map marker icons, reflecting the mark types and symbology used by that state or territory. You will notice different icon styles when switching between jurisdictions.

Export availability

Not all export types are available for every jurisdiction. See Export capabilities for the full availability table.

Filters

Filter categories and options vary by jurisdiction, reflecting the different classification systems used by each survey authority. See Filters and sorting for details.

Changing your jurisdiction

To switch to a different jurisdiction:

  1. Tap the Profile icon on the map screen.
  2. Tap Jurisdiction.
  3. Select the desired state or territory from the list.
  4. The map will reload with marks from the selected jurisdiction.
tip

When you change jurisdiction, any active filters are reset to ensure you see all available marks in the new jurisdiction.
