Export Capabilities

Benchmrk lets you export survey mark data in several formats. This page covers PDF report generation, data export options, and how export availability varies by jurisdiction.

PDF report generation

You can generate PDF reports for individual survey marks or collections of marks from your Ledger.

Generating a PDF

  1. Open the point details panel for a mark (by clicking it on the map or selecting it from search results).
  2. Click the Reports dropdown in the action bar.
  3. Select the PDF report type you want to generate.
  4. The PDF is generated and opens in a new browser tab or downloads automatically.
warning

Make sure your browser allows pop-ups from Benchmrk. PDF reports open in a new tab, and pop-up blockers may prevent this.

What's in a PDF report

A typical PDF report includes:

  • Mark identifier and type.
  • Coordinates (geographic and projected where available).
  • Status and accuracy class information.
  • Jurisdiction-specific metadata fields.
  • A location map showing the mark's position.

Data export formats

Beyond PDF reports, Benchmrk supports exporting mark data in structured formats for use in GIS software and other tools:

FormatDescriptionUse case
PDFHuman-readable reports with mark details and location mapPrinting, sharing, archiving
CSVSurvey mark data in comma-separated valuesImport into GIS software, spreadsheets, databases
DXFCadastral linework in AutoCAD DXF formatImport into CAD software, GIS applications

Exporting from the action bar

The point details panel's action bar includes an Exports dropdown. When you click it:

  1. Available export files are fetched for the current mark's area.
  2. Files are grouped by category (Survey Marks CSV, Cadastral Linework DXF).
  3. Select the files you want using the checkboxes.
  4. Click Download Selected to download all chosen files as a ZIP archive.

Per-jurisdiction differences

Export availability and content vary by jurisdiction because each state and territory provides different data and report types.

Jurisdiction Note

The level of detail in exported reports depends on what the jurisdiction's data source provides. NSW and VIC typically have the most detailed reports, while smaller jurisdictions may have simpler outputs.

Export tips

  • Check the jurisdiction first — The available export options in the action bar reflect what's available for the current mark's jurisdiction.
  • Use Ledger exports for batch work — If you need data for multiple marks, save them to your Ledger first, then use the batch export feature.
  • Allow pop-ups — PDF exports open in new browser tabs. Ensure your browser's pop-up blocker isn't preventing this.
  • Large exports may take time — If you're exporting data for many marks, the generation process may take a few seconds. Be patient and avoid clicking the export button multiple times.
