Interface Overview
The Benchmrk map-viewer is organised into a few key areas. Understanding the layout will help you navigate the app quickly.
Search bar
The search bar sits at the top of the sidebar. It supports three search modes:
- Mark — Search by survey mark name or ID.
- Address — Search by street address to find nearby marks.
- Coordinates — Search by latitude and longitude.
Use the tabs above the input field to switch between modes.
Map canvas
The central area of the screen is an interactive map. This is where survey marks are displayed as points on the map.
- Click any point to view its details in the sidebar.
- Zoom in and out using the scroll wheel or the on-screen controls.
- Pan by clicking and dragging the map.
The map updates automatically when you switch jurisdictions or perform a search.
Sidebar panels
The left side of the screen hosts several panels that slide in and out depending on what you are doing:
- Search results — Appears after you run a search, listing matching survey marks.
- Point details — Shows full metadata for a selected mark.
- Ledger — Your saved collection of bookmarked survey marks.
- AI Assist — The AI-powered analysis panel for pin-drop recommendations.
Jurisdiction selector
The jurisdiction dropdown in the header lets you switch between Australian states and territories (NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, TAS, NT, ACT). Changing the jurisdiction updates the map viewport, available data, and symbology.
DocsPanel toggle
The DocsPanel toggle button in the header opens this documentation site in a panel alongside the map. You can read the docs and interact with the map at the same time.
The DocsPanel is the recommended way to follow tutorials — interactive action links in the tutorials can drive the app directly while you read.
