What is Benchmrk?

Benchmrk is a web-based platform that helps you find, view, and manage survey marks across Australia. If you have ever needed to locate a physical marker in the ground — a benchmark, a trigonometric station, or a permanent survey mark — Benchmrk puts that information at your fingertips on an interactive map.

What are survey marks?​

Survey marks are physical markers placed in the ground by government agencies. They serve as fixed reference points for mapping, construction, land development, and scientific research. Each mark has precise coordinates and metadata that professionals rely on for accurate positioning.

Benchmrk connects to official survey data from every Australian state and territory, bringing it all into one searchable, map-based interface.

Here is a quick summary of what the platform offers:

  • Search for marks — Find survey marks by name, street address, or coordinates across any Australian jurisdiction.
  • View details — See full metadata, coordinates, and status information for any mark on the map.
  • Save to your Ledger — Bookmark important marks to your personal Ledger so you can return to them later.
  • AI-powered analysis — Use AI Assist to drop a pin and get intelligent recommendations for nearby survey marks.
  • Export reports — Generate PDF reports and download data for use in your projects.

The Benchmrk interface at a glance​

When you open Benchmrk, you will see four main areas:

  1. Header — Contains the jurisdiction selector, account menu, and the DocsPanel toggle button that opens this documentation inside the app.
  2. Search bar — Located at the top of the sidebar. Switch between Mark, Address, and Coordinate search modes to find survey marks in different ways.
  3. Map canvas — The central interactive map. Click any point to view its details. Zoom, pan, and explore survey marks visually.
  4. Sidebar panels — The left-side area that displays search results, point details, your Ledger, and AI Assist controls.
