Saving to Ledger
The Ledger is your personal collection of saved survey marks. Think of it as a bookmark system for the marks that matter to your work.
Saving a mark
After viewing a mark's details (by clicking it on the map or selecting it from search results):
- Open the point details panel for the mark you want to save.
- Click the Save to Ledger button in the action bar at the bottom of the panel.
- The mark is added to your Ledger immediately.
You can save marks from any jurisdiction. Your Ledger holds marks across all states and territories in one place.
Viewing your saved marks
To open your Ledger:
- Click the Ledger icon in the sidebar or use the navigation menu.
- The Ledger panel displays all your saved marks, showing the mark name, type, and jurisdiction.
- Click any saved mark to fly to its location on the map and open its details.
Your Ledger persists across sessions — saved marks are still there when you sign back in.
Understanding Snapshots
When you save a mark to your Ledger, Benchmrk creates a Snapshot — a point-in-time capture of that mark's data. Snapshots are useful because survey mark data can change over time (status updates, coordinate refinements, etc.).
With Snapshots, you can:
- See what the data looked like when you saved it — Each Snapshot records the mark's state at the moment it was captured.
- Track changes over time — Compare Snapshots to see how a mark's data has evolved.
- Maintain a historical record — Even if a mark's live data changes, your Snapshots preserve the earlier state.
Snapshots are covered in more detail in the Deep Dive section. For now, just know that every time you save a mark, a Snapshot is automatically created.
