Jurisdictions
Benchmrk covers all Australian states and territories. Each jurisdiction has its own survey data, and the app adapts to show the right information for the selected region.
Supported jurisdictions
| Abbreviation | State / Territory |
|---|---|
| NSW | New South Wales |
| VIC | Victoria |
| QLD | Queensland |
| SA | South Australia |
| TAS | Tasmania |
| NT | Northern Territory |
| ACT | Australian Capital Territory |
Selecting a jurisdiction
The jurisdiction dropdown is located in the header bar. Click it and choose the state or territory you want to work with. The app updates immediately.
What changes when you switch jurisdictions
Map viewport
Each jurisdiction has a default map centre and zoom level. When you switch jurisdictions, the map flies to the default viewport for that region. For example, selecting NSW centres the map on New South Wales, while selecting VIC centres on Victoria.
Data schema
Different jurisdictions expose different metadata fields for their survey marks. Benchmrk uses a Field Map system to translate raw data fields into readable labels for each jurisdiction. This means the point details panel may show different fields depending on which jurisdiction you are viewing.
Symbology
Each jurisdiction defines its own set of mark types and map icons. The symbology — the icons and colours used to represent different mark types on the map — changes when you switch jurisdictions. The Layer Manager also updates to reflect the available mark types for the selected jurisdiction.
Some mark types exist in one jurisdiction but not another. If you switch jurisdictions and a mark type disappears from the Layer Manager, it simply means that type is not part of the selected jurisdiction's data.
