Navigation to mark
Benchmrk provides turn-by-turn navigation from your current location to a selected survey control mark using the Mapbox Navigation SDK (MapboxNavigation 0.38.0). This guides you along the road network to the mark's vicinity.
Starting navigation
- Tap a mark pin on the map to show the summary card.
- Tap the summary card to open the details panel.
- Tap the Navigate button (directions icon).
- The navigation screen launches with a route calculated from your current location to the mark.

Navigation routes you along roads and paths to the mark's approximate location. The final approach to the physical mark may require walking off-road, guided by the map and distance indicator.
Navigation features
Turn-by-turn directions
The navigation screen displays:
- Next manoeuvre — upcoming turn or direction change with distance
- Route overview — the full route displayed on the map
- Estimated time — approximate travel time to the destination
- Distance remaining — distance to the mark, updated in real time
Distance display
The distance to the selected mark is shown throughout navigation, updating as you travel. This helps you gauge how close you are to the mark.
Voice guidance
The navigation SDK provides voice instructions for upcoming turns and manoeuvres, allowing you to keep your eyes on the road.
Single-destination navigation
Benchmrk supports navigation to one mark at a time. To navigate to a different mark, end the current navigation session and start a new one from the desired mark's details panel.
Benchmrk does not support multi-mark route planning. Each navigation session routes from your current location to a single selected mark.
Ending navigation
To end a navigation session:
- Tap the X or End button on the navigation screen.
- The app returns to the map view centred on your current location.
Tips for field navigation
- Start navigation while you have a reliable mobile data connection, as the route is calculated online.
- The navigation route follows roads and paths. Once you arrive at the road-accessible point nearest the mark, switch to the map view to walk the final distance.
- Use the AR view when you are close to the mark to visually locate it through your camera.
