"This Mark Type Is Currently Hidden"

When you encounter the message "This mark type is currently hidden", it means the Survey Mark you're trying to view belongs to a type that has been toggled off in the Layer Manager.

Why This Happens

The Layer Manager controls which mark types are visible on the map and in search results. Each Jurisdiction has its own set of mark types with distinct Symbology. When you hide a mark type, marks of that type are:

  • Removed from the map display
  • Excluded from search results
  • Blocked from selection in the point details panel

If you navigate to a mark (via a direct link, shared URL, or Ledger entry) whose type is currently hidden, you'll see this error instead of the mark details.

Resolution

  1. Open the Layer Manager — Click the Layer Manager icon in the sidebar or map controls.
  2. Find the mark type — Look for the mark type mentioned in the error message. Mark types are listed with their symbology icons.
  3. Toggle it on — Enable the mark type by clicking its visibility toggle.
  4. Retry your action — Go back to the search result, Ledger entry, or link that triggered the error. The mark should now display correctly.
info

The Layer Manager remembers your visibility preferences per jurisdiction. If you frequently work with specific mark types, keep them enabled to avoid this error.
