AI Assist Issues

AI Assist uses AI to analyse Survey Marks near a pin-dropped location and provide recommendations. When the feature doesn't work as expected, here are the common causes and resolutions.

Common Issues

Quota Exhaustion

Each subscription tier includes a monthly Usage Quota for AI analyses. When your quota is exhausted:

  • The AI Assist button shows a quota-exceeded message
  • You cannot run new analyses until the quota resets
  • Your quota resets at the start of your next billing period

Resolution:

  1. Check your remaining quota in the account menu
  2. Wait for the monthly reset, or upgrade to a higher tier for more analyses
  3. See AI Quotas for details on quota limits per tier

Analysis Timeouts

AI analysis can time out if the request takes too long to process.

CauseResolution
High server loadWait a minute and try again. Peak usage times may cause slower responses.
Large number of nearby marksTry placing the pin in a less dense area, or adjust your max distance preference to reduce the analysis scope.
Network instabilityCheck your internet connection. See Network Connectivity for troubleshooting.

"Outside Supported Regions" Error

AI Assist is available within supported Australian Jurisdictions. You'll see this error if:

  • The pin is dropped outside Australia
  • The pin is in an area not covered by any active jurisdiction
  • The pin is in a jurisdiction that doesn't have AI analysis support yet

Resolution: Ensure your pin is placed within a supported jurisdiction's boundaries. Check the active jurisdiction in the dropdown and verify the pin location on the map.

Unexpected Recommendations

If the AI returns recommendations that don't seem relevant:

  1. Review your preferences — The AI uses your configured preferences (project type, priority, max distance, mark status, etc.) to filter and rank results. Adjust these in the preferences panel before running the analysis. See AI Preferences for details on each option.
  2. Check the pin location — Make sure the pin is placed at the correct location. Even a small offset can change which marks are included in the analysis.
  3. Consider the data — The AI works with the survey mark data available for the active jurisdiction. If the data is sparse in your area, recommendations may be limited.
  4. Adjust max distance — If results include marks that are too far away, reduce the max distance preference. If too few marks are returned, increase it.
info

AI recommendations are suggestions based on the available data and your preferences. Always verify recommendations against your project requirements and professional judgment.
