Ledger and Snapshot Issues

The Ledger stores your saved survey marks, and Snapshots capture point-in-time state for those marks. When saves fail, snapshots go missing, or data doesn't sync, here's what to check.

Common Issues

Failed Saves

When saving a Survey Mark to the Ledger fails:

CauseSymptomsResolution
Authentication expiredSave fails with an auth errorLog out and log back in, then retry the save.
Network interruptionSave appears to hang or fails silentlyCheck your internet connection and retry. The app does not auto-retry failed saves.
Usage limit reachedError message about limitsFree-tier accounts have Ledger size limits. Upgrade your subscription or remove unused entries.

Missing Snapshots

If a Snapshot you created doesn't appear in the history:

  1. Refresh the Ledger — Close and reopen the Ledger panel to force a data refresh.
  2. Check the correct mark — Snapshots are tied to specific survey marks. Make sure you're viewing the right mark's snapshot history.
  3. Verify it was saved — If the snapshot creation was interrupted (network issue, browser closed), it may not have been persisted. Create a new snapshot.
  4. Check your session — If your session expired during snapshot creation, the save may have failed silently. Log in again and check.

Report Attachment Failures

Snapshots can have report attachments (PDF, TIFF) that are fetched from jurisdiction-specific sources. If reports fail to attach:

CauseResolution
Report not available for this JurisdictionNot all jurisdictions provide all report types. Check Snapshot Reports for availability per jurisdiction.
Report service temporarily unavailableThe external report service may be down. Wait and retry later.
Network timeout during fetchLarge reports (especially TIFF images) may time out on slow connections. Try again on a faster connection.
Popup blocker interferingSome report downloads open in a new tab. Ensure popup blockers allow Benchmrk.

Data Sync Problems

The Ledger syncs with the server when you open it and when you make changes. If data appears out of sync:

  1. Refresh the page — A full page reload forces a fresh data fetch from the server.
  2. Check multiple devices — If you use Benchmrk on multiple devices, changes made on one device may take a moment to appear on another.
  3. Verify your network — Sync requires an active internet connection. Changes made during a network interruption may not persist.
tip

After saving a mark or creating a snapshot, wait for the confirmation message before navigating away. This ensures the save has been persisted to the server.
